　白色家兎眼における強膜cauterization施行後の経時的角膜形状変化を，角膜形状解析装置TMS−1を用いて，実験的に観察した。12時の強膜にcauterizationを施行した直後，施行部位付近に一致した上方角膜輪部から瞳孔領付近まで，steep化がみられたが，2日後には角膜はほぼ施行前の形状に回復していた。Jaffeの2倍角ベクトル法で求めた乱視変化量は，8眼中7眼において，施行直後あるいは施行後1時間で最高となった後，翌日には減少し，その後は安定する傾向がみられた。以上より，cauterizationを施行した場合，施行直後の直乱視化は避けられないものの，過剰に施行しなければ，その影響は比較的早期に安定化するものと考えられた。

We evaluated the shape of the cornea in 8 rabbit eyes before and after scleral cauterization at 12 o'clock position of the limbus. A corneal topo-graphic system, TMS-1 by Computed Anatomy,was used. Immediately after cauterization, thecornea became steeper along the area between the site of cauterization and the center of cornea. This corneal steepening disappeared 2 days later and the corneal topography returned to the pretreatment state. The maximum steepening occurred within 1 hour after cauterization in 7 of 8 treated eyes.These findings show that scleral cauterization induces with-the-rule astigmatism for a limited duration.
