頸部異物症例では，受傷時に自覚しているか，あるいは周囲にいた人によって認識されていることがほとんどである。今回われわれは，診断と治療に難渋した無自覚の頸部木片異物症例を経験したので，若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する。

A 62-year-old male had been unaware of a foreign body in his neck. The wooden foreign body surrounded by pus could not be detected by CT-scan performed at his first visit to our hospital. We finally extirpated and found the broken tip of a wooden chopstick in the inflammatory granulation tissue Possibility of radiolucent foreign body should be taken into consideration when inflammatory swelling is noted in the head and neck region.
