緒　言

　日常の臨床において眼窩組織への出血は外傷後によく認められる。通常，保存的に出血の吸収除去が行なわれているが，著者らは最近，硬式野球ボールの顔面打撲により著明な眼球突出と視力障害をきたした症例で，術前にcomputerized tomo-graphy（C．T．）によつて眼窩血腫とその局在が確認され，外科的療法できわめて良好な結果が得られた症例を経験したので報告する。

A 15-years-old boy developed acute proptosisand visual loss following blunt trauma to the right orbital margin by a flying baseball. Exa-mination with EMI-scanner showed the presence of a large retrobulbar mass with an absorption coefficient suggesting a hematoma. Surgical removal of the orbital hematoma and decompres-sion of the retrobulbar pressure was attemptedvia the transfrontal approach. Proptosis and visual impairment were relieved soon after the surgery. The present case is a typical instance that shows the clinical usefulness of EMI-scanner in the localization of intraorbital hema-toma.
