緒論

　α—Chymotrypsin （以後α—Chと略）を用いた白内障全摘出手術に関しては，1958年Barraqu—er,J．が発表して以来，数々の報告がある。われわれの教室でも，10数年前よりこれを臨床的に使用し，その老人性白内障に対する総括的成績については，1970年第24回臨床眼科学会において田中ら^1）が第1報を発表し，ついで第2報としてCh使用後に発生する一過性眼圧上昇について，桝田ら^2）が第77回日本眼科学会総会において発表した。今回は糖尿病者の白内障全摘出術にさいし，Ch使用群と非使用群とに分けて成績を比較検討したのでここに報告する。

A total of 58 diabetic subjects (67 eyes) we-re operated for diabetic or senile cataract with the use of α-chymotrypsin (1 : 15,000). Only subjects over 50 years of age are included in the present study. The chief complications were as follows : vitreous loss (3 eyes), hyphaema (16 eyes), rupture of the lens capsule (11 eyes) and flat anterior chamber (2 eyes).

There were 24 diabetic subjects with bilater-al cataract in whom one eye had been operated with α-chymotrypsin and the other without. Po-stoperative hyphaema occurred in 3 eyes with α-chymotrypsin and in 4 eyes without α-chymotr-ypsin.
