視神経鞘内転移癌の1例

Metastatic Carcinoma in the Optic Nerve Sheath. Report of A Case

　視神経，視神経鞘内転移腫瘍はきわめてまれである。欧米に20数例，わが国に数例の報告をみるのみである。

　私どもはこのたび胃癌の視神経鞘内転移の1例を経験したので，ここに簡単に報告する。

A report is presented on the occurrence of metastatic carcinoma in the optic nerve sheath in a 55-year-old male. The metastasis becamemanifest 19 months following surgical removal of carcinoma of the stomach.

The vision deteriorated quickly from the ini-tial 1.0 to complete blindness 40 days after the initial onset of eye symptom. Papilledema was found at first and was followed by retinal hemo-rrhages resembling an incomplete obstruction of the central retinal vein one week later. Nei-ther exophthalmus, impaired ocular motility or pain was present. The patient died 5 months after onset of visual disturbance.
