I．緒言

　Diamoxをはじめとする炭酸脱水酵素阻害剤は，眼科領域においては1954年Becker^1）等Gra—nt等^2）及びBreinin等^3）により眼圧下降剤として研究されて以来，数多くの研究が行われ，今日では緑内障治療剤として一般的なものになつている。最初のDiamox （Acezolamide）に次いで，Daranide （Dichlorphenamide）^4）5），Ne—ptazane （Metazolamide）^6），Diurex （5—chloro—2-4—disulfamyl-toluene）^7）等の薬剤が副作用をより減少せしめ，より大きな眼圧下降効果をあげるために研究されて来ている。

　これらのSulfonamide誘導体として同系列に属する薬剤のうち静脈内投与可能なのはDiamoxのみであり，静脈内投与であるということは内服薬に比較して急速に血中濃度を高めることを意味し，内服薬とはある異つた効果が期待されるところである。

The authors attempted the clinical applica-tion of intravenous administration of Diamox sodium. 7 glaucoma subjects, 1 suspicious gla-ucoma subject and 2 non-glaucoma subjects were given the drug at the dosage of 7 to 25 mg per kg body weight. Further, it was given to one cataract and one glaucoma case in the same dosis for preoperative reduction of intraocular pressure.

The rate of reduction of intraocular press-ure ranged 3 to 57% of initial pressure except one eye which was already hypotonic after previous operation. The number of eyes in which reduction of over 20% was induced was 17.
