Glycerol内服による眼圧下降効果について

Intraocular pressure following oral administration of Glycerol

I．緒言

　近年種々なる眼圧下降剤についての実験的並びに臨床的研究報告が多数散見される。点眼薬としては，Ismelin, digitonin或いはcardiac gly—cosideが，静注用としては尿素を始めとして最近mannitol等の滲透圧剤が，内服剤としては，acetazol amideを始めとして，Diurex, Dia—mox Sequels等数々の炭酸脱水酵素阻害剤が出現，その使用経験が数多く報告されている。更にVirno等^1）はglycerol （以下Gと略す）内服が眼圧下降に非常に劇的に作用することを報告している。著者等は動物実験的にその副作用を検すると共に，26例の正常並びに緑内障眼に対してGを経口投与する機会を得，いづれの症例にも顕著な眼圧下降作用を観たのでここに報告する。

The effects following Coral administration of glycerol are reported. In experimental observation, glycerol administered orally red-uced effectively the intraocular pressure of rabbits. In clinical observation, when glycerol was administered orally as solution of 50 percent glycerol and 20 percent glucose flavoured with orange juice to 26 patientsconsisting of normal subjects, simple glauco-ma, acute and chronic congestive glaucomas, secondary and hemorrhagic glaucomas, the reduction of intraocular pressure was observ-ed in all patients, especially in primary glaucomatous patients.
