  • Look Inside

A clinical study was conducted over the short-term hypotensive effect after topical application of one drop of catapresan (2-〔2,6-dichlorpheny-lamino〕-2-imidazolin hydrochloride). Solutions of 0.125%, 0.25% and 0.5% were used. The cases consisted 10 glaucoma subjects, 2 lglaucoma suspects and 6 normal subjects.

An immediate drop in IOP was noted in all the eyes after one instillation of each concentra-tion. The IOP drop set in within 15 to 30 minu-tes and the maximum effect was attained 15 to 300minutes after topical application. The amount of decrease in IOP ranged from 28 to 41% from the original level.
