The hypotensive effect of both 50% Gly-cerol administered orally and 15% Mannitol infused intravenously was studied in normal and glaucomatous eyes.

A. 50% Glycerol solution was prepared by adding 0.9% saline and orange essence. The dosage was 1.2 to 1.5gm/kg. The change of the ocular tension after administration of Glycerol was studied in 6 normal eyes, 9 eyes with simple glaucoma, 4 eyes with acute congestive glaucoma, two eyes with chronic congestive glaucoma and two eyes with seco-ndary glaucoma. The results obtained were as follows:
