  • Look Inside

The hypotensive effect of Aldomet (α-methyl-dopa) on the ocular tension of various types of glaucoma was studied. In this study the glaucomatous eyes with higher ocular tension were not included, for the hypotensi-ve effect of Aldomet seemed to be less than other carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.

Aldomet, 250-1000mg daily, was given orally in 8 cases of chronic simple glaucoma, one of acute congestive, two of chronic congestive glaucoma and two of secondary glaucoma.

In all 13 eyes with glaucoma, the hypote-nsive effect of Aldomet was excellent.
