要約　5名の女性に発症したレーベル遺伝性視神経症の臨床像を検索した。全例にミトコンドリア点変異が検出され，診断が確定した。年齢はそれぞれ7歳，28歳，53歳，66歳，66歳であり，全例が両眼性の発症であった。3例では視力に明らかな左右差があり，4例では視野にも明らかな左右差があった。66歳で発症した2例では，それぞれヘルペス性ぶどう膜炎とエタンブトール投与の誘因があった。今回の症例群は，レーベル遺伝性視神経症が女性に発症した場合には，男性に比べて少なくとも片眼は症状が軽い可能性があることと，感染または薬剤投与などが女性発症者での発症のきっかけになりうることを示している。

Abstract.　Purpose：To review the characteristic features of Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy（LHON）in women. Cases：Five women were diagnosed with LHON. All the cases had mitochondrial DNA point mutation. They were aged 7,28,53,66 and 66 years at the time of diagnosis.All were bilaterally involved. Findings：Three cases showed apparent differences in visual acuity between the right and left eye. Four cases showed discrepancies in visual field between right and left eye. One case aged 66 years had herpetic uveitis and another of the same age had received ethambutol before onset of LHON. Conclusions：Female patients of LHON may show differences in visual impairment between right and left eye. Visual impairments may be less severe than in males.Infection or drug administration may serve as triggers of LHON in women of advanced age.
