要旨●大腸癌の増加に伴い大腸癌の早期発見，早期治療の重要性が認識されるようになり，大腸内視鏡検査の重要性がうたわれている．大腸内視鏡検査による適切な診断・治療の選択において，拡大観察は重要なモダリティである．画像強調観察（IEE）の一つであるNBI拡大観察を有効に使用するには，NBIの原理，観察方法，分類の意義と特徴を十分理解する必要がある．

　The importance of early detection and treatment of colorectal cancer has been recognized and the importance of colonoscopy has been indicated owing to the increasing incidence of colorectal cancer.

　Extended observation is an important technique that helps select appropriate diagnosis/treatment using colonoscopy.

　To effectively use NBI magnification observation, a type of image-enhanced endoscopy, it is necessary to completely understand the principles of NBI, the observation methods, and the significance and characteristics of classification.
