Abstract. Purpose:To report the 3-year effect of tafluprost treatment on visual field, morphology and microcirculation of optic nerve head in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG). Cases and Method:A randomized comparative study was made on 24 patients with POAG. 11 patients treated by tafluprost and 13 patients treated by latanoprost. They were followed up for 3 years regarding intraocular pressure(IOP), shape and microcirculation of optic nerve head measured by laser speckle and visual field. Results:IOP in both groups decreased significantly after instillation over 3 years and there was no change between the two groups in the IOP reduction rate. In eyes treated by latanoprost, microcirculation of optic nerve head significantly decreased except in the nasal sector, but no decrease was found in eyes treated by tafluprost. There was no change in MD value measured by Humphrey or findings by optical coherence tomography and Heidelberg retina tomograph Ⅱ. Conclusion:The IOP-lowering effect of tafluprost was similar to that of latanoprost. Microcirculation of optic nerve head was kept for 3 years in patients treated by tafluprost, but decreased in patients treated by latanoprost.
