Abstract. Purpose:To report the short-term outcome of pars plana valve implant for neovascular glaucoma with prior vitreous surgery. Cases and Method:This study was made on 4 eyes of 4 patients who received pars plana implantation of Ahmed glaucoma valve for neovascular glaucoma. The series comprised 3 eyes of proliferative diabetic retinopathy and 1 eye of central retinal vein occlusion. All the eyes had received vitreous surgery. Cases were followed up for 4 to 11 months, average 8.8 months. Intraocular pressure(IOP)prior to implantation averaged 33.5±4.4 mmHg. Results:IOP was elevated in 3 eyes shortly after surgery and was controlled by massage of eyeglobe. IOP was below 21 mmHg at the end of follow-up period in 3 eyes without treatment and in one eye with topical medication. Conclusion:Pars plana implantation of Ahmed glaucoma valve was effective for neovascular glaucoma after vitreous surgery. Massage of eyeglobe was effective for elevated IOP shortly after implantation.
