Abstract. Purpose:To report the two cases of intraorbital foreign bodies which were either glass or wood in infants, showing different outcomes. Cases and Findings:Case 1 was a 2-year and 11 month-old girl who suffered a injury to left lower eyelid 18 months ago. Computerized tomography(CT)showed a high density object in her left orbit, suggesting a glass foreign body. After surgical removal of the foreign body, no ophthalmic complication was observed. Case 2 was a 2-year and 1month year-old boy who had fallen down in the bush 1 month ago and subsequently a granulomatous wound with a purulent discharge in his left lower eyelid and an esodeviation of the left eye were observed. Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)revealed foreign bodies overlying his left lateral rectal muscle and a number of vegetable foreign bodies were extracted. For the correction of motility disorder of the lateral rectal muscle, surgery of esodeviation was undertaken twice. Conclusion:Ophthalmologists should examine by radiological examination including plain X-ray, CT and MRI in the case of intraorbital foreign bodies in infants.
