Abstract. Purpose:To report factors that affect visual outcome in ocular injury. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 71 eyes of 71 cases who were treated by us during 3 years through 2011. They were analyzed regarding age, visual acuity before treatment, nature of injury, corneal laceration, hyphema, injury to the lens including dislocation, vitreous hemorrhage or prolapse, retinal detachment, and history of eye surgery. Results:Visual outcome was significantly poor in patients aged 60 years or over, initial visual acuity less than 0.01, eyeglobe rupture, lens dislocation, and previous eye surgery. Conclusion:There are factors that affect the visual outcome in ocular injury. They include advanced age, poor visual acuity before treatment, eyeglobe rupture, lens dislocation, and previous eye surgery.
