Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of proliferative retinopathy presumably secondary to scleroderma. Case:A 35-year-old female presented with impaired visual acuity in the right eye since one month before. Findings:Corrected visual acuity was 0.3 right and 1.2 left. The right eye showed vitreous hemorrhage, fibrovascular proliferation and traction retinal detachment along the superior vascular arcade. Vitrectomy led to the detection of extensive branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO)and improved visual acuity to 1.2. Systemic studies showed positive rheumatoid factor, elevated antinuclear antibody and sclerosis of finger tips. These findings led to the diagnosis of scleroderma. Conclusion:BRVO in this case was presumably due to scleroderma and resulted in proliferative retinopathy and vitreous hemorrhage.
