Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of hemorrhagic retinal detachment presumably due to peripheral exudative hemorrhagic chorioretinopathy(PEHCR). Case:A 72-year-old male presented with impaired vision in his right eye since 2 weeks before. He had had systemic hypertension and atrial flutter and been receiving hypotensive agent and warfarin. Findings:Visual acuity was light perception right and 1.0 left. The right eye showed hemorrhage in the anterior chamber and the vitreous. Ultrasonography showed findings suggestive of retinal detachment and subretinal hemorrhage. Vitreous surgery showed hemorrhagic bullous retinal detachment in the whole circumference and a fibrovascular mass in the superior-temporal periphery probably due to choroidal neovascularization. Conclusion:This case illustrates that hemorrhagic retinal detachment may be secondary to PEHCR in advanced age.
