Ⅰ．緒言
1818年Cooper1）が巨細胞腫について記載し，それ以後一般に長管状骨に発生する骨腫瘍であると考えられているが，今回著者らは89歳の老女の上顎骨より発生した興味ある巨細胞腫の1例を経験したので，いささか文献的考察を加えて報告する。
A woman, aged 89, complained of swelling of the left cheek to the extent that she was unable to open her left eye. Biopsy examination showed the growth to be a giant cell tumor.
Because of the age of this patient the operation for the tumor removal was undertaken under local anesthesia with local infiltration combined with trigeminal nerve block. The growth was completely removed.
Microscopic examination of the removed specimen showed the growth to be originating from the mandibular bone.
No sign of recurrence is seen, at present, 10 months after the operation.
