はじめに
鼓室成形術は，Morilz（1950），Zöllner（1652），Wullstein（1952）等により脚光を浴びて来た手術であるが，我が国においても後藤修二教授（1953）を始めとし，今日まで十数年の間に長足の進歩発展を遂げ，広く普及されるに至った。
更に昭和36年にはOtomicro-Surgeryの研究会が発足し，この手術を中心にひたすらな研究努力が重ねられている。鼓室成形術は炎症の除去と伝音機構の修復という相反する目的を同時に満足させ様とする手術であり，そのために手術手技も多彩になるのは当然である。即ち乳様蜂窩，耳小骨，鼓室粘膜，両内耳窓，耳管などの病変の扱い方や，鼓膜修復材料，術後管理の問題等何れをとつても簡単には解決出来ない点を多く含んでいる。そこで我が国における鼓室成形術の実態調査を行なつて見るのも，この手術の発展に寄与する所があると考え，大学，綜合病院及びOtomicro Surgery会員の一部の方に依頼した調査結果を報告し，私見を加えてみた。
In order to learn the present status of tympanoplasty in this country questionaires in reference to the types of skin incisions, the way in which the mastoid cells and auditory tubes may be handled, what method of procedure may be adopted when the incus is missing, the prevention of tympanic adhesion, what material may be used for the repair of tympanic membrane and the number of tympanoplasties heretofore performed, were sent to each specialist. There were 88 responses to these sets of questions which are presented and discussed.
