吾々の改良人工喉頭

　緒論

　人工喉頭は専らタピア型が使用されているが，無喉頭者が実社会で再び活動するには非常な忍苦に耐えなければならない。

　吾々は，その一人大島が二年来無喉頭である為自ら実験台となり，人工喉頭の改良に苦心した結果，タピア型の改良とも言える一新人工喉頭を試作出来た。

Miyazaki and Ohshima devise a new form of artificial larynx an improvement added to that of Tapia type. Its structure is essentially as follows:

The sounding valve opening is placed at the application end which is trumpet-like in form differing from past instruments by eliminatio-ng the resonance box and a separate opening for breathing. The angle is changed for pla-cing of the valve-opening: the rubber vibrating band consists of irregular-shaped tri-valve affair.

Modified in this way the instrument is now smaller in size. lighter in weight, clearer and louder by sound: the breathing opening being eliminated it could be well manipulated by one hand and furthermore, collection of droplets of moisture on the rubber band is avoided.

The use of this instrument is still hardly beyond the stage of experimentation and full physical evaluation has not been attained but, one year of its test seems to prove many van-tage points that have been gained by the mo-dification.
