　病的結石形成は臟器の異なるに從い，その形成方法及び，成分にも差があり，又個人的差違もあります．我々耳鼻咽喉科領域に於きましては，唾石，扁桃腺結石，鼻腔結石は稀れでなく，その報告も少くありませんが，副鼻腔洞の結石形成に関する文献は，或る教科書にわ「結石の副鼻腔に存在するものゝ症候は著明ならざることあり，間々蓄膿症の因を作し，寧ろ後者として処理せられ，手術時に甫めて発見せらるゝこと尠からず」と記載されて居りますが，その報告例はミユーレンの蝴蝶洞結石等の他，甚だ少いのであります．

　著者は最近，其の経過，症状，X線写眞所見より上顎洞惡性腫瘍を疑つた1症例で，手術の結果，偶然に上顎洞結石であつた稀有な1例に遭遇しましたので，こゝに其の経過概略を報告致します．

Tosabayashi reports an interesting case of lithiasis of maxillary sinus. Malignancy was suspected in this patient who was 54 years of age. Operation revealed numerous stones which were apparently disintergrated in the maxillary sinus and their formation was probably caused by presence of a loosened tooth which freed itself into the sinus as a portion of it was re-covered at the time of operation. Total weight of stones after properdesication is 0.6 grams. Their chemical compositions for the most part are calcium phosphate and calcium carbonates.
