緒言

　腎の感染症は臨床上腎盂腎炎をはじめ，膿腎症，腎周囲膿瘍など非常に多い疾患であるが，孤立性腎膿瘍は非常に珍しい疾患である。最近われわれはその1例を経験したので，若干の考察を加えて報告する。

A 22-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital on January 10, 1977 with the complaint of left flank pain and an episode of high fever, which had been diagnosed and treated as chronic pyelone-phritis by other plysician for 4 months.

Laboratory findings was normal. Intravenous pyelograms and retrograde pyelograms showed a space-occupying lesion in the upper pole of the left kidney. In the same lesion renal scintigrams revealed a "cold" spot and renal angiographies demonstrated a completely avascular mass, which suggested a renal abscess or an infected renal cyst.
