　open treatmentは内皆部の様な肉芽形成の良好な場所にしか利用できないし，年齢と欠損の大きさも問題であるが，条件がそろえば，これほど簡単で優れた手術は少ない。

　我々は5例の内砦部組織欠損の症例を，open treatmentによって経過を観察，その結果を示し，以下のごとく結論する。

（1）内砦部腫瘤の性質が不明で，かつ5mm径以下の大きさの場合。

（2）40歳以上の患者で内皆部悪性腫瘍だが15mm径以下の切除で済む場合。

　以上の場合open treatmentは最もよい方法である。

We treated 5 cases with tissue loss due to either tumor or trauma, in the nasocanthal region. After surgical removal of the tumor mass, the tissue defect was left open in accordance to the 'open treatment' principle. Prompt and uneventful post-surgical cure was obtained in all the cases.

Based on our experience in the present series of cases, it is concluded that open treatment is indi-cated for the treatment of nasocanthal tumor in either of the following two situations. ( 1 ) The patient is aged 40 years or more. The tumor may be benign or malignant.
