  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We applied laser trabeculoplasty (LTP) to 10 eyes in 10 patients with posttraumatic glaucoma. The intraocular pressure (IOP) was poorlycontrolled in all the eyes even with maximum medication.

The IOP level dropped by an average of 8.6mmHg following laser treatment. The IOP remained below 20mmHg in 7 eyes. In 3 out of these 7 eyes, the IOP was well controlled without further medication. The follow-up period ranged from 13 to 86 months, averaging 46 months. In contrast to our findings with primary open angle glaucoma treated by LTP, the pressure-lowering effect of LTP in the present series was of lasting nature, provided thetreated eyes responded favorably during the im-meditate post-treatment period. Above findings indicate that LTP is the treat-ment of choice in posttraumatic glaucoma with open chamber angle.
