緒　言

　われわれ眼科医を脳ます問題の一つに，眼底の黒色病巣がある。このような病巣の中には，いろいろな疾患が含まれているが，まず第一にmalignant melanomaが疑われて眼球摘出を受ける症例も多いことは，古くより指摘されているところである^1）。

　この黒色病巣を大別すると，脈絡膜から発生するものと，網膜から発生するものとの2種類に分けられる。このうち，網膜から発生するものは，比較的まれなものであるが，網膜色素上皮（retinal pigment epithclium，以下RPEと略す）のhypertrophyも眼底の黒色病巣として観察されるものの一つである。

Four cases of the eyes with congenital hyper-trophy of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) are described.

These cases were all characterized by solitary, flat, round or oval, well demarcated, black lesions with or without depigmented lacunae. The lesions were surrounded with hypopigmented halo in two of them. One of them showed generalized hypopigmentation with hyperpigmented ring.

Fluorescein angiography of the congenital hypertrophy of the RPE demonstrated normal retinal vascular pattern in areas overlying these hyperpigmented regions.
