  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

In a retrospective study of 112 consecutive eyes operated for retinal detachment, there were no apparent retinal breaks in 9 eyes. All the 9 eyes showed various preoperative complications such as corneal opacity, small pupil, secondary cataract, vitreous opacity, massive vitreous retrac-tion and choroidal detachment. The eyes were all apahkic, and the vitreous loss was present in six of them.

These 9 eyes were surgically treated with 360-degree scleral buckling procedure with addtional photocoagulation, diathermy or cryoapplication. Two eyes developed slight persistent corneal edema as postoperative complications.
