はじめに
眼科領域において感染による炎症に対しては，各種の抗生剤が使用されて多くの成果をあげてきたが，抗生剤の濫用による耐性の問題が生じ，その効果が期待できぬ場合もしばしば生じてきた。
筆者はこの問題点に着眼し，スルファ剤の効果を再検討すべきであると考え，新型スルファ剤であるポリサイダルを眼疾患に適用し，予想以上の成果を認めたのでここに報告する。
A total of 32 subjects of infectious diseases of the eyelid, conjunctiva or cornea have been treated by sulfamethopyrazine (Policydal).Each patient was given 300 to 600mg of the prepara-tion in tablet form through peroral route. The treatment proved particularly effective for di-sease conditions of apparently bacterial origin. Ammore favorable effect was obtained, in gene-ral, when the treatment was initiated during the initial, acute phases of the infection.
The present form of treatment promises to be of value in the present era because of the alarming frequency of resistant strains to newer antibiotics.
