糖尿病性網膜症の臨床的観察—網膜症の頻度（第2報）

Clinical Observation on Diabetic Retinopathy:Occurrence of Retinopathy (Report 2)

緒言

　糖尿病性網膜症の発症あるいは進行因子については多数報告され，検討されているが，いまだ明確な回答は得られていない。著者らは前報^1）で糖尿病患者500名の網膜症の発生頻度を検討したが，今回新たに528名の糖尿病患者の眼底検査を行なつたので，合わせて1028名の糖尿病患者の網膜症頻度として統計的に検討を加え報告する。

A total of 1, 028 patients with diabetes mel-litus were examined for possible diabetic reti-nopathy. Statistical evaluations were made as regards the possible correlationship between the incidence and severity of retinopathy as classified after Wagener and other verious etiological factors.

1. Out of the 1,028 cases studied, 270 cases (26.3%) proved to be suffering from diabetic retinopathy. Females with diabetes were more prone to suffer from diabetic retinopathy than males in a definitely significant way.

2. The incidence of diabetic retinopathy in-creased with the duration of diabetes.
