I．緒言

　CDP-cholineは一般名をciticolineといい，cytidine diphosphate cholineを化学名とする物質で，生理的に動物の各種組織内に存在する。

　分子式はC₁₄H₂₆O₁₁N₄P₂で，分子量は488.34である。CDP-cholineの代謝経路については，Kornberg, Kennedyなどにより明らかにされ，現在はTab．　1に示すような代謝経路をとるものと考えられている。

Assessment of action of choline derivatives upon excised rabbit retina was conducted through ERG studies in vitro according to the method de-scribed elsewhere (Acta Soc. Ophth. Jap. 70: 1569, 1967). When the rabbit retina was treated with CDP-choline (cytidine diphosphate choline), the resultant ERG showed two peaks of electric potential difference. Through comparison with similar studies with phosphorylcholine and acetyl choline, the observed ERG was found to be com-posed of two components. One component corresponded to the factor of transmitter and the other to that of energic metabolism in the retina.
