In Proceeding report, the effects of CDP-choline on the EEG of experimentally induced hypnotic poisoning in rabbits were reported.

The effects of CDP-choline on the EEG of eleven clinical cases of acute hypnotic poisoning were in-vestigated in this report.

Findings of their EEG were classified in following three groups ;

1) fast activity in background with slow component (6 cases)

2) slow activity in background with fast component (3 cases)

3) appearance of suppression phase (2 cases).

And the EEG changes of each group after in-travenous injection of CDP-choline (200 mg to 500 mg) were observed and the results were as follows.

The first group was characterized by increase of amplitude of fast component and decrease of slow component.

The second group was characterized by decrease of slow component and of its amplitude and increase of fast component.

The third group was characterized by reduction of suppression phase, extension of burst and increase of fast component in the burst.

The EEG changes appeared 2~5 minutes after administration of CDP-choline and continued to 20~60 minutes (35 mintutes on the average).

Those changes are mild and transient, but are longer than the changes induced by megimide or cytochrome C.

In one cases with general convulsion, the EEG findings showed slow waves with frequent spike dis-chages, but after injection the EEG revealed increase in cycles of slow waves and decrease in frequencies and amplitudes of spikes.
