病的現象に応用される神経組織培養の方法論的検討

Methodological criteria of nerve tissue culture for the studies of pathological phenomena

　近頃，神経および筋組織の培養を用いた研究はきわめて多くなり，十年余り前のことを考えると，今昔の感に堪えぬという言葉があてはまる。1955年，Petersonら^20）によりin vitroでの髄鞘形成が報告され，またPomerat一派によるtime lapse cinematographyを用いたdynamic neurobiologyなどの報告がなされた後，20年ほどの間に神経や筋の培養を用いて行なわれた研究は，その数もきわめて多くなり，研究領域も広範囲なものに拡がっている。それらの報告の多くは，in vitroの神経組織の特徴を生かした研究で，in vivoでは研究が困難な問題を取り扱っている。

　Since nervous tissue maintained in vitro can grow, differentiate and react to the alterations of external environment, addition of causative factors to the culture medium produces specific changes which can be followed as long as in vitro existence.

　Thus effects of chemicals and drugs for the development and maintenance of cultures and neurotoxicity seem to be an adequate to study in this system. Cultures can, also, be used for in vitro demyelination by adding antisera and lymph node cells from EAE and EAN animals, as well as human neurological diseases.
