本邦最大と思われる巨大前立腺肥大症の1例

THE LARGEST BPH IN JAPAN: CASE REPORT AND REVIEW OF LITERATURE

緒言

　最近わが国の平均寿命が延長し，高齢者の増加とともに前立腺肥大症は増加の傾向にある。

　われわれはこのたびわが国における報告例のうちで最大と思われる535gの前立腺肥大症を手術的に治癒せしめたので，その経験を述べあわせて若干の考察を加えた。

A 66-year-old male had several episodes of urinary retention per a year since he was catheteri-zed 15 years ago. He presented with asymptomatic gross hematuria the day before admission. Physical examination on admission revealed a childhead-sized mass palpable on the anterior rectal shelf. Needle biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of benign prostate hyperplasia. Under epidural anesthesia, the combined method of suprapubic and retropubic approach was utilized to remove the huge prostate adenoma. The removed prostate adenoma consisted of bilobular nodular hyperplasia on pathology and weighed 535grams.
