Solitary Fibrous Tumor in the Maxillary Sinus:A Case Report

　はじめに

　Solitary fibrous tumorは，KlempererとRabin^1）により胸膜の腫瘍として1931年に初めて報告された。多くは胸膜に発生するが，稀に腹膜，心膜，縦隔，肺実質などにも発生することが知られ，WitkinとRosaiらは，1989年に上咽頭における発生を報告した^2）。われわれは，上顎洞に発生した本腫瘍の症例を報告する。渉猟し得た限りでは，本邦では，この症例に類似した報告は見られない。

A solitary fibrous tumor, or so-called solitary fibrous mesothelioma was mostly found as a pleu-ral tumor, but other areas such as nasopharynxwere also involved.

A 69-year-old male presented with the chief com-plaints of left nasal obstruction, recurrent epistaxis and a left cheek pain for 7 years. Repeated CT scans revealed a slowly growing soft tissue density in the left maxillary sinus accompanied with increasing bony destruction. A subtotal maxillectomy was performed, and a solitary fibrous tumor in the maxillary sinus was diagnosed. The postoperative course was uneventful for 13 months.
