  • Look Inside

We reviewed a series of 21 eyes, 21 patients, with pseudophakic bullous keratopathy (PBK) during the foregoing 12-year period. The intraocular lens was iris-fixated in 8 eyes, anterior-chamber type in 6 and posterior-chamber type in 7. The interval between cataract surgery and PBK averaged 0.2 year in eyes with posterior chamber lens, 2.0 yearsin eyes with anterior chamber lens and 5.0 years in eyes with iris-fixated lens. Persistent corneal edema developed immediately after cataract surgery in 6 out of 7 eyes with posterior chamber lens.

Our observations suggest that substantial differ-ences may be present in the pathogenesis of PBK in eyes with posterior chamber lens as distinct from eyes with iris-fixated or anterior chamber lenses.
