  • Look Inside

A 28-year-old female sought medical advice forbilateral blurring of vision of recent onset. Slit-lampt examination showed bilateral corneal edemawith moderate folds in Descemet's membrane.Shehad been treated per orally by 4 major tranquilizersduring the foregoing 10 years for schizophrenia.Discontinuation of the tranquilizers except for sul-pride resulted, 3 weeks later, spontaneous resolu-tion of corneal edema and folds in Descemet'smembrane. Specular microscopy showed markedenlargements of corneal endothelial cells. The ob-served corneal endothelial decompensation appear-ed to have been induced by long-term use of majortranquilizers.
