  • Look Inside

We reviewed the long-term outcome of senile cataract extraction with primary implantation of iris-supported lenses in a consecutive series of 20 eyes. Binkhorst iris clip lens was inserted in 16 eyes, medallion lens in 3 and Binkhort iridocapsular lens in 1. The lenses had been in situ for 4 years at least.

The long-term incidence of complication was low so that the technique would merit due considera-tion for surgery of unilateral cataract. Endothelial corneal dystrophy and lens dislocation were the major possible disadvantages of iris-supported lenses in the long run.
