シリコンスポンジを用いた涙嚢鼻腔吻合術について

Silicone sponge as a conformer of dacryocystorhinostomy

　直径7×6.5mmのシリコンスポンジを，涙嚢鼻腔吻合術における吻合腔への留置物として用い，9例11側中8例10側に良好な結果を得た。留置物としては，ガーゼタンポンをはじめとして種々のものがあるが，それぞれに長所短所がある。その中で，今回用いたシリコンスポンジは，留置物としての条件をほぼ満し，術中術後の操作も容易であることから，優れた材料であると考えられた。

Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) was perlbrmed in 12 cases using a piece of silicone sponge, 7 mm in diameter and 40 mm in length, as conformer inserted in the opening of the newly formed lacri-mal outflow channel.

Satisfactory and persistent new lacrimal channel resulted in all the 12 cases but one, in whom the silicone sponge was accidentally removed on the 5th postoperative day. The silicone sponge could be handled with ease during surgery and the post-operative period.
