Ocular pathology in trisomy 18

緒　言

　Edwardsら^1）により最初に報告された本症候群は，E群18番目の染色体が3本みられるもので比較的稀な先天異常である。その頻度はSmith^2）によれば，1,000の出産に対し0.3とされている。性差は4対1で女に多く^3）症例の90％は1歳未満に死亡する。眼に関連した変化は，眼窩と眼瞼の異常に基づくものを含めれば報告例の50％にみられるとされている。臨床的には小眼球症，虹彩欠損，青色強膜，硝子体動脈遺残，視神経萎縮を伴つた先天緑内障^4），両眼の瞬膜^5）などの報告があるが，本症候群の眼病理組織像についての報告は少なくわが国においては未だみられない。このたびわれわれは18 trisomy syndromeの典型例を自験し，その眼球を検索する機会を得たので報告する。

This paper describes the clinical and histopatho-logical findings of a female infant with Edwards' syndrome. The baby was born full term, weighing 1,860 gr, and died 160 days after birth. The chro-mosomal pattern was 47, ××, 18+ (18 trisomy).

Macroscopic ocular features were: invasion of bulbar conjunctiva into the temporal part of the cornea, corneal opacity and retinal folds (Lange's fold, radiating folds from the posterior pole and macular folds).
