Comparisons between Mackay-Marg Pressure Readings and Goldmann or Schiötz Pressure Readings

I．緒言

　MackayとMarg^1）は1959年に，いわゆるfast acting applanation tonometersとして電子工学をとり入れたMackay-Marg眼圧計（以下M-M眼圧計と略）を発表した。それ以来，彼らは本装置を実験的，理論的に検討している^{2）3）4）5）}。

　本邦では，清水^6）が最初にこれを紹介し，ついで私共が，これを臨床例に使用して，その値はSchiötz及びGoldmannの眼圧値より高目であるという成績を発表^7）した。最近になつて初めてTierney等^8）がM-M眼圧計を臨床例多数に使用した成績を発表している。

Comparisons of Mackay-Marg pressure rea-dings in the sitting position (P_M-S) to Gold-mann pressure readings (P_G) and Mackay-Marg pressure readings in the recumbent po-sition (P_M-R) to corrected Schiotz pressure readings (P_C) have been made on 157 eyes. The results obtained are as follows.

1. The correlations between P_M-S and P_G or P_M-R and P_C are statistically significant (Fig. 1 and 2). Mackay-Marg pressure readings are shown to be higher than either Goldmann or Schiötz pressure readings.

2. The means and standard deviations of P_M-S and P_G are 19.74±5.50mmHg and 16.25± 6.75mmHg respectively (Table 1).
