Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of survey regarding the awareness of low-vision status by professors of ophthalmology in 2011. Objects and Method:A questionnaire containing 12 items was mailed to 146 professors of ophthalmology in Japan. The outcome was compared with the similar survey in 2008. Results:A total of 63 professors(43%)responded to the questionnaire. Low vision was the object of interest by 89% and care for low vision was provided by 65% of the responders. Low vision needed to be taught by 72%. A clinic caring for low vision was present in the vicinity in 44% of responders. The outcome of present survey was similar to that in 2008. Conclusion:The status regarding care for low vision has not changed in the past 3 years. It seems to reflect the difficulty in teaching and popularization care for low vision by university hospitals.
