Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of pituitary adenoma detected after rapid progression of unilateral glaucomatous visual field defect. Case:A 53-year-old female was referred to us for abnormal findings in the optic disc in her left eye detected during routine health-check program. Findings:Corrected visual acuity was 1.0 right and 1.2 left. Intraocular pressure was 21 mmHg right and 23 mmHg left. Her left eye showed findings compatible with glaucomatous optic disc and corresponding visual field defect. She started receiving topical latanoprost after diagnosis of primary open-angle glaucoma. Visual field showed rapid progression 2 years later. Systemic studies led to the detection of pituitary tumor. The tumor was diagnosed with hormone-producing adenoma after surgery. Visual field defect in the left eye persisted after surgical removal of pituitary adenoma. Conclusion:This case illustrates that presence of pituitary tumor may modify and accelerate glaucomatous visual field defect.
