緒　言

　緑内障視野の特徴として，Bjerrum領域の点状小暗点，弓形暗点，nasal step，固視部視野の末期までの残存，周辺島状視野の残存がよく知られているが，それらがどのような過程をたどつて進行するかは明確ではない。

　われわれは多くの症例について検討の結果，今までに，視野による慢性原発緑内障の病期分類を確立し（1972,1975），それぞれの病期について視野の異常部位の頻度分布を調べ（1975,1976），更に各病期の視野異常が幾つのパターンに分類されるかを検討し（1977），それぞれ発表した。

We evaluated the perimetric findings in 658 eyes of 399 cases with primary chronic glauco-mas with a view to detect basic patterns of pro-gression of visual field defects. Kinetic projection perimeter of Goldmann was used throughout the study.

Glaucomatous visual field defects occur either inside the visual field (depression) or along the peripheral contour (constriction). The former is characteristic for the early stage of glaucoma up to Stage Ⅲb and the latter characterizes the late stage of the disease.
