Abstract Purpose:To evaluate the effect of the extent of ab-interno trabeculotomy on postoperative intra ocular pressure(IOP).

Subjects and method:The study included 74 eyes that had undergone microhook trabeculotomy or ab-interno suture trabeculotomy at Asahikawa Medical University Hospital and Wakkanai City Hospital between March 2017 and September 2021. They were followed up for 6 months and analyzed retrospectively.

Result:The mean patient age was 71.5±12.1 years. The mean extent of trabeculotomy was 202.4±85.4(60-360)degrees. The study comprised 44 cases of open angle glaucoma, 11 cases of exfoliation glaucoma, seven cases of uveitic-secondary glaucoma, 12 cases of steroid glaucoma. The mean preoperative IOP reduced from 21.2±9.5 mmHg to 14.5±6.0 mmHg(p<0.0001)at 6 months postoperatively. Multiple regression analysis showed thar the extent of trabeculotomy was not associated with postoperative IOP(p=0.38)but with the reduction rate of postoperative IOP(regression coefficient[95%confidence interval]0.07[0-0.13]p<0.05).

Conclusion:The extent of trabeculotomy was not associated with postoperative IOP but with the reduction rate of postoperative IOP.
