Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of subtenon triamcinolone aceonide in a case optic disc drusen with papilledema. Case:A 62-year-old male presented with blurring of vision in his left eye since 3 weeks before. His corrected visual acuity was 0.06 right and 0.6 left. The right eye showed macular atrophy and an elevated white lesion on the optic disc. The left eye showed hyperemia and swelling of the disc with edema and hemorrhage in the surrounding retina. Systemic findings were inconclusive. Ultrasonoscopy showed findings compatible with calcification of optic nerve head in both eyes. He was diagnosed as a case of bilateral optic disc drusen with disturbed retinal circulation. Clinical Course:Findings in the left eye progressed further, necessitating subtenon injection of triamcinolone aceonide. Clinical findings improved gradually. The right eye received similar treatment for acute papilledema with success. Conclusion:Subtenon injection of triamcinolone acetonide may be effective for optic disc drusen with papilledema.
