Abstract. We examined acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy(APMPPE)using fundus angiography and optical coherence tomography(OCT). The patient was a 20-year-old male with unilateral involvement. He was followed up from one week of onset until 18 months later. By fluorescein angiography, the exudative patches showed hypofluorescence during the early phase and hyperfluorescence in the late phase, manifesting so-called inverted phenomenon. By indocyanine green angiography, they showed hypofluorescence throughout. OCT showed thickening of retinal pigment epithelium(RPE)or pre-RPE accumulation of fluid in the area of exudates.Serous retinal detachment with accumulation of high-protein fluid was present in the macula. The choriocapillaris was occluded in the area of exudates. Recurrent corneal infiltration, which developed during the course of the disease, could be cured by topical corticosteroid.
