  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

In Parkinsonian syndrome,;,the cycle of resting tremor in each limb was measured and calculatedstatistically by the 100 intervals of grouping dis-charge. It was indepenpent, very regular and hardly affected by posture, inertia, or psychological factors. When streotaxic ventrolateral chemothalamotomy was done to Parkinsonian tremor and rigidity, some patients suffered from recurrence of tremor and rigidity. In these 7 of 9 cases, before and after the operation, the cycle of resting tremor lowered in contralateral limbs of thalamotomy. And it did not alter in the ipsilateral limbs in 8 of 11 operations. The regularity of tremor did not vary in both ex-tremities postoperatively. In reference to these observations, the mechanism of Parkinsonian tremor was discussed with it relation to the cycle. It was supported .from the viewpoint of the change in the cycle of resting tremor that the ventrolateral area played an important role in the mechanism of Parkinsonian tremor.
