  • Look Inside

This report is based upon our experience in the use of chlorpromazine at the Hukuyama Jinpuso Hospital (lunatic asylum).

Our clinical material is 36 psychotic patients, including 24 schizophrenia.

C.P.was given orally 200-400mg a day.

At schizophrenia, C.P. was more effective for acute, new cases and catatonia, 40% of the cases, for which E.C.T. and I.C. T.are not effective, was improved by C.P.

In our cases, manic state and delirium tre-mens were improved,10 cases of 24 schizophre-nic patients, 3 cases of 5 neurotic patients ware much improved, dementia senilis and psycho-pathia were unchanged, but a number of patie-nts became cooperative to nursing care.

In the psychic symptoms, insomnia, emot-ional irritability and instability, stupor, hallu-zination, delusion and inaccessibleness were most disappeared by C.P.

Observing our all cases, we had the impres-sion that long duration of small doses was pointless, so far as the side effects of C.P.were not so harmful, the largest doses was most effective.
