アルツハイマー病（AD）に対するアミロイドβ抗体薬による治療が保険診療として始まった。この治療の対象となる患者の条件の一つとして，「アミロイドPETまたは脳脊髄液（CSF）検査を実施し，アミロイドβ病理を示唆する所見が確認されていること」と規定されている。アミロイドPETは，アミロイドプラークの脳内沈着を可視化する低侵襲な検査方法である。

Amyloid PET is a method that is used to determine the indication of the amyloid β antibody therapy. A positive or negative amyloid PET scan is determined by visual read. This determination procedure is specified for each drug：florbetaben, florbetapir, and flutemetamol. A positive scan indicates moderate to frequent amyloid neuritic plaques. The agreement rate between readers is high, around 90％. In most cases, it is not difficult to make a decision, but there are a number of cases in which it is difficult to interpret the images. It is recommended that semi-quantitative values such as the Centiloid scale be used as reference only.
