I．緒言
顔面・頭蓋骨に発生するfibrous dysplasiaは比較的稀な疾患であるが，本邦においては，これまでに16例が報告されている。その臨床像は次第に明確になりつつあるが，なおその本態，類似の線維性骨病変であるossifying fibromaとの相異など明確に取扱われていない点も少なくない。耳鼻科領域では上顎骨に好発するが，著者らは最近蝶形骨に原発したfibrous dysplasiaを経験した。このような例は著者らの知るかぎりにおいては未だ報告がないので，若干の考察を加えて報告する。
A case of monostotic fibrous dysplasia of the sphenoid occured in a 15-year-old boy was reported. X-ray and CT scan examination revealed sclerosis of the left greater wing of the sphenoid and the region from the sphenoid sinus to the clivus. The left ethmoid and the left maxilla were also involved in the sclerosis. Any visual disturbance or cranial nerve disturbance was not noticed except a slight proptosis of the left eye.
The lesion was exposed by alveolar incision. The left maxillary sinus, the left ethmoid and the sphenoid sinus were almost completely filled with bony growth, which was removed by curettage.
A discussion was made to clarify the difference of prognosis between fibrous dysplasia and ossifying fibroma.
